Two for the Boosh
While looking through the local rag the other week, Mrs Lace saw an advert for The Mighty Boosh stage show. She was kind enough to inform me of this, despite the possibility of being dragged along to see it. As a massive fan of The Boosh in both TV and Radio format, I felt as if my life had meaning once more. Wicked! Upon phoning the venue for tickets, (a mere four weeks before the performance), I was informed that they were sold out. Bollocks.
I decided I would cheer myself up by purchasing the audio CD of the radio shows from Play.com. In the process of doing this I noticed a little tab that said "Mighty Boosh Competition". You could win tickets to see the show. Wicked! In Birmingham. Bollocks.
Then I remembered a mate I'd promised to visit, the Troubadour, who lived in Birmingham. Not at all bollocks. I checked the dates, to see if I would be working. As luck would have it, the show was on the first day of my holiday. In no way gonad orientated! I got on the phone to the Troubadour and told him I was going to win the competition. He didn't seem too convinced."I've got to win it. It just fits in with everything. I wanted to see the show, I couldn't get tickets. I'm not working on that day. You live in Birmingham. You wanted me to come and visit. It's gonna happen."Despite the evidence I provided him with, I could tell the Troubadour was still sceptical. He was a positive sort of chap, and not the kind of person to burst another man's bubble. He wished me well, and I agreed to let him know the outcome.
This is the e-mail I received from the wonderful Rachael Taylor of Play.com's marketing department a few days later.
